' Inspiration' - Presentation Convent - Wexford - Ireland
Steel- 5m

Inspiration

· This work is constructed in stainless steel constitutes a graphic stylized form of a dove symbolizing 'inspiration'.

· The design is reflected in a shadow-form on the wall, to add a greater dimensionality to the sculpture.

· The dove is a classic symbol of the concept of inspiration, which is the essential foundation of thought and learning, embodied in the principles of the Presentation School.

· While in many cultures the dove represents the ' spirit of light, in Christianity it symbolizes the 'Holy Spirit. Doves are sacred to the Queen of Heaven and depict ' femininity' and 'maternity'.

· The rays emanating from the dove express the idea of inspiration flowing from this central point throughout the community.
