The ANZAC Memorial statue commemorates all who paid the supreme sacrifice for freedom.

The 10m high stone and bronze ANZAC Memorial statue situated in Central Park was unveiled in April 1996. It was designed by WA sculptors Charles Smith and Joan Walsh-Smith. On the top of the memorial is a semi-circular window through which the rising sun¬†shines and which is inscribed with the words, ‘Those only deserve freedom who are prepared to defend it’. The bronze boy on the steps of the memorial is a symbol of the innocence of children and the desire for world peace.
