Passages In Time: Atrium Mural - This is a Three Story Internal Wall Mural — size: approx. 7.5m high by 4m wide

This Mural soars through three stories on the internal lobby wall and provides a dramatic and striking continuity element for the observer entering the building, where they will first encounter the enigmatic ‘ Atrium lobby Mural’. From there, this vertical Mural, takes the theme upwards through the building until the observer enters any room on any floor where they will find the exterior forecourt mural-screens shimmering mysteriously across the Court-yard, thus completing the cycle visually and psychologically.

The visual effect of this large three-story mural involves extra-dimensional layers of metal projecting from the background at different levels on concealed brackets. This creates an intense interplay of shadow-relief across its surface. This effect, combined with the highly articulated, abraded surface of the honey- toned metal itself responds dramatically in different viewing perspectives, but particularly to precision spotlights.

Handled properly, in the artificial lighting, energises the surface abrasion of the rich golden coloured surface to an almost holographic 3-dimensional illusion.

The juxtaposed images are relieved at intervals with an undulating Wave-pattern, reflecting various conceptual images, such as the energetic activity of the people within St. Martins electronic waves and, ultimately, the omnipresent Swan River itself, progenitor of this unique City and without which Perth would not exist.
