Artists Concept

 

The Septimus Roe commemorative artwork, takes the form of a compass rose. It is a narrative artwork depicting stages in the life of Roe, the first Surveyor General of Perth, 1829,in bas relief bronze encased in a stainless steel circle.

Each ‘arm’ of the compass is a vignette of the history of Perth and WA at this period of time and the centerpiece is the plan of Perth as laid out by Septimus Roe.
